Her name is Taylor Ware

I stumbled across this short act while browsing the other day and was taken by it as, apparently, so many others have been. 

Her name is Taylor Ware.  She's from Tennessee.  Her talent relates to Texans because so many of us have the Tennessee heritage.

And if you've been to as many Saturday night, small town dance halls as I have for a bit of twirl, waltz, polka and swing, you'll smile at this short performance in spite of the glitz in which she performs.

Will Howard: becoming a less well-kept secret on Texana

Will Howard is the former overseer of the Texas Room at the Houston Public Library.

Beside being a librarian, he's also a preacher and a teacher, but mostly he's a Texas bibliographer, of immense proportion.

These days, he produces Will’s Texana Monthly, an email newsletter meticulously cataloged and jam-packed with Texana, and the Texas Parlor, a weblog about various persons, books, weblogs, events and media of all sorts and anything else that smacks of Texas.

Not only has he a voice of rich timbre and resonance, he also has a deep passion and reverence for things of Texas.

Laura Trione - "Released Tears of My Life"

Laura Trione is one of the best kept secrets in the Indie music world; probably because she’s wanted it that way …until now …maybe.

For any number of reasons, musical talent such as hers is oftentimes lost to those of us who would embrace it.  Sometimes it’s because of the crushing competition in the world of music; sometimes it’s because of something personal.

Artists are sensitive and precise people and are mostly terrified of criticism. I suspect Ms. Trione is an artist.

Regardless, Ms. Trione has something special. I’ve heard her sing, and I’m here to tell you that it’s one of the richest voices I’ve heard in ages.

She also constantly messes around on the piano and produces melodies as handily as you or I might toast a slice of bread.

I was by her home in Houston over the holidays, heard a piece she’d been massaging for a day or two, and convinced her to play for my recorder. Perhaps she’ll agree to share her voice with us later.
